Terry Grant is currently sitting as the vice chair of the Moosomin Visual Arts Center Board.
Terry has always loved art in all forms and this has been the impetus to his contributions in the creation of MVAC. He has coveted funky homemade pieces and has collected all throughout his life. From antique mushroom lamps of our childhood, carved wooden old men faces found in a flea market in Cuba to eclectic pieces he has collected from family, markets and second hand stores, his life is surrounded in cherished art.
Terry’s art journey has so many faceted sides. He has tried his hand at many different art forms and his portfolio is ever expanding. Terry has worked with metal during silversmithing crafting with silver and copper , leather as he has made homemade leather goods, cake decorating with his wife Jen, glass as he has tried glass blowing and took numerous stained glass classes and fell in love with the process, water while he created wonderful water colours and played with shading and textures, words as he stumbled upon the joy of weaving them into poetry and has even found himself published, now he has turned his talents to clay.
His pottery can be found in the town of Moosomin and he is continuing to hone his craft. Terry has recently stepped into an instructor role in the clay studio and is truly loving the experience. He is excited to be a part of the board and focused on growing and promoting the arts and art community within Moosomin and the surrounding area.
According to Terry’s wife, he may or may not have a volunteering addiction. He is very community minded and excited to see the dream of a community artist consortium become a reality.

Jen has been involved in MVAC since its inception, working behind the scenes and supporting the transformation from dream to reality. She was instrumental in setting up the kitchen and stocking it to be ready for cooking programs. With decades of professional culinary experience she has made sure all culinary programming had all the bits and pieces to make beautiful meals, breads and memories. Jen has offered children’s cooking programs in the early days of the MVAC and it has taken off from there. She is very excited to be a part of the MVAC family and has decided to officially join the board.
Since being very young Jen has always loved cooking and baking. Her family can still remember all the home made soup nights and the kids birthday parties where each child got to decorate their own cake. Jen has imaginatively created gluten free breads and recipes that would rival the taste of the regular “poison” recipes, as Terry famously calls regular breads, cookies and dishes made with flour!
Jen wouldn’t consider herself to be a creative person but she has tried her hand at many
different forms of creative expression. Jen has decorated beautiful cakes since the kids were little, graduating from star tips and molded cake pans to multi tiered wedding cakes with fondant, sugar flowers and decorations. Jen has practiced cross stitch, counting patterns and working even precise stitches. She has sewn numerous projects and has most recently taken up quilting where she gets a chance to put her eye for color combinations and patterns together to make functional heirlooms for family and friends. Jen works in the Hospital kitchen where she is the head cook, in this role she is able to combine her skills of organization with her love of cooking. Jen is married to Terry and together they are the proud parents of three adult kids. She loves to spend her spare time (the little that Terry hasn’t filled with a new project) quilting, chilling with the family's 2 Schnauzers, camping, cooking, baking, and spending time with family and friends.

Originally hailing from Inglis, Manitoba, I relocated to British Columbia to pursue post-secondary studies in the Arts after completing my education. However, the charm of the prairies ultimately beckoned me back. Thirty-eight years ago, I established my residence on a bee farm in Rocanville, Saskatchewan—a choice that has enriched my life with sweetness alongside my husband and two sons.
Although my artistic abilities were primarily developed through hands-on experience, I also benefited from formal training in the Visual Arts. This includes earning a Diploma in Graphic Design and completing the first year of Fashion Design from Fraser Valley College, as well as acquiring a certificate in Interior Decorating through Long Distance Learning.
For the past 35 years, I have had the privilege of teaching private and group art and craft lessons from my home and through Community College, as well as traveling to many towns in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
I offer instruction in a variety of mediums such as pencil, watercolor, acrylic, stained glass, and more.In January 2020, I realized my lifelong dream with the official establishment of my business, Darsart Studio & Gallery. People can visit my 900 sq ft studio located on our bee farm in Rocanville, Sk. In addition to my teaching endeavors, I dedicate time to creating my own artworks, specializing in acrylics and mixed media. I thrive on the challenge of integrating diverse elements and textures, blending both new and reclaimed materials. My works are in private collections from Manitoba to B.C.
The latest chapter of my Art Career has awarded me the opportunity to sit on the founding board of the Moosomin Visual Art Center.
The Board trusted me with the procurement of THE STAINED GLASS STUDIO for MVAC. Rocanville and Moosomin have been very supportive of my Art over the years. I donated the STAINED GLASS STUDIO as my way of giving back.
