Metis Ribbon Skirt Class

  • Moosomin Visual Arts Centre 701 Ellice Street Moosomin, SK, S0G 3N0 Canada (map)

We are honoured to be hosting a Métis Ribbon Skirt class, led by Métis Elder Christine Leshchyshyn.

This is a two part class (Wednesday August 21 from 5-8 and Thursday August 22 from 5-8) offered on a first-come-first-served-basis to Indigenous people with preference given to Métis participants. Participants of all ages are welcome.

Participants will learn the history and tradition behind the Ribbon Skirt as well as the process of making it. Each participant will come away from the class with a Ribbon Skirt of their own making.

Moosomin Visual Arts Centre received financial assistance from Sask Lotteries, thanks to a SaskCulture program delivered in partnership with Gabriel Dumont Institute.

This class is offered free of charge to Métis people. For First Nations and Inuit people, the cost of the class is $80.00 + GST.

The class is limited to 7 participants.
